Welcome to TipiWalk...
Our philosophy and quality standards
We offer guided hikes and canoe trips in the exceptional nature of central Portugal with its infinite forests, bright blue rivers and reservoirs, rocky heights and small idyllic villages away from the tourist bustle of the Algarve or the big cities such as Porto and Lisbon. Exactly the right environment to relax with nature.
On each of our canoe trips we will make you familiar with the basics of canoeing and living in and with nature. This includes, among other things:
- Introduction to Canoeing for beginners and advanced
- Shelter design and construction.
- Fire making and preparation.
- Collecting and preparing of suitable wood.
- Splitting wood with an axe.
- Cooking in nature.
- Setting up and dismantling a tipi.
- The correct loading of a canoe and a rucksack.
On the half-day trips, not all of the above are covered.
To ensure the smooth running of the multi-day trips, each person in the group will be given a specific task, which can change from day to day. This contributes to a sense of community and team work and helps each trip to to be a great experience where life long friends are made.
The food we offer on our tours is always freshly prepared, preferably with local products. We also offer homemade specialties such as marinated olives, chutneys, jams, bread and more.
We are also able to cater for vegetarians and vegans with varied and tasty meals.
Even the materials used on our tours are first class. You sleep in tipis from Tentipi, you paddle in Mad River Canoes, have waterproof bags from Ortlieb , learn how to deal with axes from Gransfors Brucks and cook on a fibistove.
Our location, Pedrogao Grande is located approximately 60 kilometers from Coimbra, the former capital of Portugal with many attractions and a university that enjoys an outstanding reputation throughout Europe. Other places of interest nearby include: Pedrógao Pequeno, Figueró dos Vinhos, Castanheira de Pera, Tomar, Pombal and Figueira da Foz.
